Former world champion in the heavyweight division holding the IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO titles, Anthony Joshua, expressed unexpected open criticism following his victory over Jake Paul. The British boxer did not hide the fact that although the result was achieved, it did not meet his expected standards.
Joshua emphasized that the fight left him not with satisfaction but with more questions. According to him, the bout, which ended with a knockout in the sixth round, might have appeared convincing from the outside, but his internal feelings told a different story.
“I should have fought much better. This is a victory, but not a success. Both I and my coach expected more. Now, there’s no way to go back. Time cannot be reversed. I need to look forward,” Joshua said.
Another significant point in his statements is that Anthony views this fight as another lesson in his career. He openly admitted that he does not intend to “live off” this victory and stressed the need for self-improvement.
“There’s a lot I need to learn. To be honest, I’m not happy,” he concluded.
It should be noted that during the boxing event held in the United States, Anthony Joshua knocked out Jake Paul, a blogger-turned-boxer ranked 14th in the WBA standings, in the sixth round. However, this victory, for the experienced champion, was not a source of new pride but rather a serious warning ahead of the next stage.
