During the press conference held after the match between «Al-Ahli» and «Andijon» (2:0), the home team’s head coach Yunus Ali and the player of the match, Michel Vlap, shared their thoughts about the game.
Yunus Ali emphasized that despite the result, the victory on the field was not easy:
— First of all, thank you all. I believe it was a very tough and uncompromising game. We faced a strong opponent. «Andijon» played with discipline and cohesion. Before the game, I instructed my players not to give the opponent any chance. Achieving this was not easy, but I think the team managed to fulfill the task. We displayed our style of play and created many scoring opportunities. Honestly, the result could have been even bigger. The most important thing is the victory and securing 3 points, — said the coach.
Michel Vlap, who was recognized as the hero of the match, also highlighted the importance of team effort:
— I think we organized the game according to the right plan. We appeared very confident in possession. When we stepped onto the field, our only goal was to win. Showing a good performance was also crucial, and everyone on the team was ready for it. Today, I scored two goals, and it could have been three. However, sometimes it’s challenging to capitalize on all opportunities. Despite some fatigue, this match was very enjoyable for me. The most important thing is that my team won, and we secured 3 points, — said Vlap.
With this victory, "Al-Ahli" solidified its position, claiming the top spot in the group with 10 points. The team delighted its fans not only with the result but also with its confident and cohesive performance on the field. «Andijon», on the other hand, faced defeat and remained at the bottom of the group with 5 points. In the «B» group of the tournament, which ranks as the second most prestigious in Asia, «Al-Ahli» (10 points) and «Arkadag» (7 points) advanced to the next stage.
