Former Zenit player Aleksey Gasilin answered a question about how the results of 2025 for Russia’s national team can be assessed. “There haven’t been any standout events. Under Karpin, the national team are playing well and there are many wins. Karpin’s work with Russia’s national team, I think, satisfies everyone. But combining two positions at the same time is wrong,” Metaratings quotes Gasilin as saying.
Gasilin also expressed hope that football sanctions against Russia will be lifted soon. He said he would like to see a new generation of players on the international stage.
It is known that the sanctions imposed by UEFA and FIFA on the Russian Football Union (RFU) have been in effect for almost four years. For now, it is difficult to predict when these sanctions might be lifted.
