Fergana’s Neftchi club has issued an official statement regarding the iPhone gifts that have sparked widespread discussion in recent days. Earlier, social media and some outlets reported that players and coaches were given 17 iPhones for winning the championship. The club deemed it necessary to clarify the information.
In Neftchi’s official response, the club confirmed that team members did indeed receive iPhones. However, these were not bonuses for winning the Uzbekistan championship, but symbolic New Year gifts presented by the club’s sponsors. In other words, the phones are not directly tied to the team’s tournament result.
The club stated that the financial rewards for the championship were handled separately. All bonus payments were made in full in accordance with the amounts and rules specified in players’ contracts. It was emphasized that the iPhone gifts are neither an add-on to those payments nor a substitute form of incentive.
The statement also noted that Neftchi remains committed to openness and transparency, and that all contractual obligations to players are being fulfilled on time. The management urged the public and fans to trust only official sources rather than rumors.
In short, the club has put an end to the iPhone controversy: the championship comes with its own reward, while the phones were simply New Year gifts.
