Igor Korneev Says Call-Ups to Russia National Team Have Increased

Former Barcelona player and current pundit Igor Korneev commented on the Russia national team’s performances over the year. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.

Speaking on Match TV, Korneev noted that the results do not look bad statistically, but said that because too many players are being called up, the status of being a national-team player is becoming “blurred.” According to him, almost anyone can “get into” the squad now.

Valery Karpin’s side won six matches in 2025, drew three and lost one.

It is worth recalling that, by a joint decision of FIFA and UEFA, the Russia national team has been barred from participating in international competitions.
