Liverpool head coach Arne Slot spoke about Florian Wirtz’s adaptation to England and his condition on the pitch at a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Leeds. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to Slot, moving to another country radically changes a footballer’s lifestyle, and at such a time it may take time to adapt. He said that while the process may seem relatively easier for coaches, he understands well that for players who step onto the pitch, everything can change in an instant.
In the specialist’s view, the biggest test for players arriving from abroad is the high intensity of the English league. Slot specifically noted that he substituted Wirtz not because he was playing poorly, but because he saw that he could almost no longer keep running.
As a reminder, Wirtz joined Liverpool last summer from Bayer Leverkusen for €125 million. In 22 matches this season, he has registered 6 assists.
