After dropping points for the first time this season, Al-Nassr went away to face one of the league’s top title contenders, Al-Ahli. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The match started with dangerous moments very early: Al-Ahli came close to scoring twice in a row in the very first minute. In the 7th minute, after a pass from Galeno, Ivan Toney finished accurately to open the scoring — 1–0. Soon after, Toney ran onto a through ball from deep without offside, picked out the far corner and completed his brace — 2–0.
Al-Nassr brought the intrigue back in the 31st minute: Abdulileh Al-Amri struck from distance, and the goalkeeper, instead of catching the ball, pushed it into his own net with his hands — 2–1. However, Al-Ahli came close several more times to extending their lead.
In the 44th minute the visitors equalised: Marcelo Brozović delivered from a corner, and Al-Amri headed into the left corner — 2–2. On the brink of half-time, Toney also missed a chance to complete a hat-trick.
In the second half the hosts went ahead again: in the 55th minute, after a set piece, Ivan Toney lifted the ball with a touch, and Merih Demiral powered a precise header to make it 3–2.
Tension rose late on: Ali Majrashi received a straight red card for striking João Félix in the face. Later, following a VAR recommendation, Nawaf Al-Bushayl was also sent off for stopping an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to get on the scoresheet this time. Al-Nassr dropped points for a second straight match and could lose top spot by the end of the round. Al-Ahli sit fourth in the table.
