Number of Uzbeks at Persepolis could rise to four

It has been reported that the number of Uzbeks at Persepolis could reach four

Pakhtakor and Uzbekistan national team member Igor Sergeev is on the verge of joining Iran’s Persepolis. According to Persian media, the Tehran club is also planning to add another Uzbek player — Baniyas defender Otabek Shukurov.

If the financial agreement goes through, Shukurov will become the fourth Uzbek footballer at Persepolis. In addition, Uzbek winger Oston Urunov is currently playing for Persepolis, and the club has almost finalized Sergeev’s transfer.

The club’s next target is to sign Hojiakbar Alijonov and Otabek Shukurov. This would further strengthen the standing of Uzbek players in Iran and help prepare Persepolis for international competition.

These developments in Iran are certainly significant for Uzbekistan’s football fans. The transfers could open up new opportunities and also strengthen Persepolis, the country’s biggest club.
