Marseille down to nine lose at home to Nantes

In Matchday 17 of Ligue 1, high-flying Marseille hosted relegation-battling Nantes. It was a tough night for the home side: Olympique players were sent off one after another, and the visitors eventually won 0–2. euro-football.ru reportsreports.

Early on, the visitors thought they had scored from a corner, but a VAR check showed offside and the goal was disallowed. Later, Mattis Abline hit the post from a free kick. In the 26th minute, Arthur Vermeeren was shown a straight red card for a rough challenge in an incident involving the goalkeeper, leaving Marseille with 10 men. Five minutes later, after Abline’s long-range shot was parried by the keeper, Fabien Centonze finished the rebound to make it 0–1.

In the 56th minute of the second half, Bilal Nadir received two yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off, leaving the hosts with nine men. Near the end, Nantes were awarded a penalty: Remy Cabella converted in the 88th minute to double the lead — 0–2.

Despite the defeat, Marseille stayed third in the standings. Nantes are three points above the bottom spot and remain in the relegation play-off zone for now.
