Scotland to have a day off on their first World Cup matchday

Scotland’s national team has returned to the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time in the 21st century. The Scots last took part in the tournament in 1998. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .

On June 15, they will play their first group-stage match against Haiti. Interestingly, the Haitians have also not qualified for the World Cup since 1974. This date will be declared a nationwide public holiday in Scotland.

Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney announced this. However, for the decision to take effect officially, it must be approved by the UK’s King Charles III.

Scotland will also face Morocco and Brazil in the group. They were in the same group as Brazil at the 1998 World Cup as well.
