According to El Partidazo de COPE, the Atletico camp claims that Vinicius made mocking gestures toward the opponent’s bench when he was appealing for a possible penalty.
In that moment, Simeone urged the Brazilian to focus on the game. Vinicius smiled and replied: “Relax, they’re about to award a penalty against you.”
In the end, Real won 2–1 and advanced to the Spanish Super Cup final. In the decisive match, the Royal Club will face Barcelona; the final will take place on Sunday, January 11.
