Deputy Terushkov Says 2026 World Cup Will Not Be Moved from the US

Russian State Duma deputy Roman Terushkov commented on the issue of hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States amid political tensions in a number of countries. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
According to him, current events will not seriously affect the tournament schedule, and the World Cup is expected to take place as planned. Terushkov stressed that in modern professional sport, financial interests are the decisive factor, while political statements by certain countries cannot become a real obstacle to staging the competition.
“Money has ruled professional sport for a long time. Most likely, the World Cup will go ahead as planned, and the political statements of some ‘principled’ countries will go unnoticed,” Sovetsky Sport quoted Terushkov as saying.
The World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 at venues in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
