Xabi Alonso downplays Super Cup after El Clasico defeat

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso said the Spanish Super Cup is not one of the club’s main objectives. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .

In the final held on Sunday in Saudi Arabia, Los Blancos lost to Barcelona 2–3. The Catalans’ win was decided by a goal from Raphinha Dias in the 73rd minute.

Alonso stressed that the team must move on quickly: “We lost, but the Super Cup is the least important of all trophies,” Gazeta.Ru quoted the coach, citing Spanish media.

Before the final, some sources wrote that a setback against Barcelona could affect Alonso’s position. The specialist took charge of Real’s management in June.
