In the 8th minute, Joseph Scally’s shot seemed unlikely to become a goal: a defender cleared the ball off the goal line, but the episode still ended in the hosts’ favor — 1:0. In the 20th minute, Kevin Diks calmly converted a penalty — 2:0. Soon after, following a corner, Haris Tabakovic extended the lead with a header — 3:0.
Midway through the second half, Franck Honorat delivered a ball into the box and Tabakovic again won the aerial duel to make it 4:0. In the remaining minutes, Augsburg’s Yannick Engelhardt failed to hit the net from a good position, while Tabakovic was denied by the goalkeeper in another chance and missed out on a hat-trick. Late on, Samuel Essand’s attempt struck the crossbar.
After this win, Borussia moved up to 10th in the standings, while Augsburg remain near the bottom — fourth from last.
