Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue commented on striker Viktor Gyokeres’ performances for the team. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
The Swedish forward, in his first season after moving to England, has yet to fully find his rhythm in the Gunners’ lineup. Eboue believes the issue isn’t only with the striker himself.
“I watched Gyokeres a lot when he played in Portugal — he’s a very good striker. Physically strong. But the problem is that Arsenal’s wingers don’t play enough passes to him. They all want to score, but Viktor is a central striker. Scoring is his job,” Eboue said.
The Ivorian also recalled what Thierry Henry often reminded teammates: “Henry always told me, Clichy, Ashley Cole and others that he was a striker and therefore needed goals. ‘I understand you want to score too, but your job is to create chances,’ he would say,” Arsenal News Channel quotes Eboue as saying.
Gyokeres has scored 9 goals in 27 appearances for Arsenal.
