Nasaf's victory yesterday was an important result for Uzbekistan...

Nasaf's team showed true character in the final round of the Asian Champions League Elite Stage. In the away match against Sharjah from the UAE, the "dragons" won 2:1, not only delighting their fans, but also presenting the first international victory of the season for all Uzbek clubs.
"Opposition" that did not allow them to advance to the playoffs
Although Nasaf had no chance of advancing to the next stage before the match, Ruziqul Berdiev's team went on the field only for victory. On the contrary, even a draw would have been enough for the home team. However, a goal by Bobur Abdikholikov in the 30th minute shattered the hosts' plans.
In the second half, Sharjah increased the pressure and equalized from the penalty spot in the 80th minute. However, a beautiful shot by substitute Diyorbek Abdunazarov at the end of the game gave Nasaf the victory. After this defeat, the UAE club said goodbye to the competition.
Strategic importance: The fate of quotas
This victory is not just three points, but an important step towards maintaining Uzbekistan's place in the AFC rankings. Our country is currently in 5th place in the rankings. At a time when the pressure from Iraqi and Jordanian clubs is increasing, Nasaf's draw with Al Shorta and victory over Sharjah have made a significant contribution to preserving our quotas in the Elite League for the 2027/2028 season.
Season summary
The current international season has been somewhat unsuccessful for Uzbek clubs. Andijan finished the AFC Champions League-2 without a single win (5 draws, 1 loss). Nasaf's recent performance has put an end to this unfortunate tradition.
Interestingly, neighboring Turkmenistan's Arkadag became the only team from the region to reach the AFC Champions League-2 play-off round. They are currently preparing for the return match against Saudi Arabia's Al-Nasr.
Although Nasaf finished last in the group, they defended the international reputation of their country's football with their courage in the final rounds.
Do you think Uzbek clubs will be able to regain their former position on Asian fields next season?
