The prestigious international tournament "Strandja," taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, is entering an increasingly decisive stage. Today, the semi-final matches will take place, and the Uzbekistan national team will participate in this stage with a very substantial squad. It is noteworthy that today 16 of our boxers will defend the honor of our country - 7 of them will compete in the girls' category, and 9 will compete in the men's category. This is of particular importance as one of the best indicators in the competition.
Women's competitions are expected to be very interesting in today's program. Sabina Boboqulova and Farzona Fozilova will compete in the -48 kg weight category. This means that in this weight class, the representative of Uzbekistan will advance to the final in any case. The internal competition in this weight class alone shows how strong the reserve and competitive environment are in our team.
In the -51 kg weight category, Feruza Kazakova will fight Ireland's Kaitlin Frers. In the -57 kg category, Nigina Uktamova will face another Irish competitor - Niam Fay. Both matches will be a very important test in terms of technique, speed, and composure.
In the -65 kg weight category, our experienced and renowned representative Navbahor Hamidova will enter the ring against English boxer Sacha Hikkey. In the -75 kg category, Aziza Zakirova will compete against the representative of the USA, Naomi Graham. It's clear this fight won't be easy either, as each opponent who reaches this stage has already demonstrated their potential.
In the -80 kg category, Rukhshona Parpiyeva will compete against the representative of Turkey, Yaren Duztas, and in the +80 kg category, Altinoy Sotimboyeva will compete against the athlete from Kazakhstan, Dina Islambekova. Both of these matches are crucial for our women's national team's current results.
Men's competitions are also of great interest to fans. In the -50 kg weight category, Asilbek Jalilov will face Daniyal Sabit from Kazakhstan. In the -70 kg category, Shavkatjon Boltayev will face another Kazakhstani opponent - Farukh Tokhtassunov. Such conflicts between representatives of neighboring states are always sharp and uncompromising.
In the -75 kg weight category, Fazliddin Erkinboyev will compete against the representative of Italy, Gabriyele Guidi, for a ticket to the final. In the -85 kg category, two of our boxers - Akmaljon Isroilov and Norbek Abdullayev - will enter the ring simultaneously. Israilov will face Ukrainian Danilo Jasan, while Abdullayev will face another Ukrainian athlete, Matvi Rajba. It is also noteworthy that our team's capabilities in this weight category seem quite high.
In the -80 kg category, Javokhir Ummataliyev will fight against the representative of Ukraine, Jamal Kuliyev. In the -90 kg weight category, Turabek Khabibullayev will enter the ring against American boxer Josep Avinongya. Samir Sobirov, another representative of Uzbekistan in the same weight category, will compete against Bogdan Tolmachov from Bulgaria. Both of these fights are expected to be difficult and challenging.
In the heavyweight category, in the +90 kg category, Ozodbek Aliyev will compete against the host country's representative, Yordan Morejon. Fighting against the host boxer always requires double responsibility. Because there is pressure not only from the opponent, but also from the stands. Therefore, today Ozodbek needs not only strength, but also strong psychological preparation.
It is reported that the competitions will be organized in two programs according to Tashkent time. The first program starts at 17:00, and the second program starts at 21:00. So, today Uzbek boxing fans will have intense, exciting, and decisive matches that will last almost the entire evening.
