On the last evening of winter, Inter hosted Genoa at the San Siro in Milan and extended their winning streak in Serie A by another game. This was reported by euro-football.ru. reports .
In the middle of the first half, Henrikh Mkhitaryan intercepted the ball and sent a pass to the edge of the penalty area. Ange-Yoan Bonny's shot towards the right corner was parried by the goalkeeper with a jump. Shortly after, Mkhitaryan broke through from the center and his strike from outside the box deflected off a defender, hitting the post and going out for a corner.
Later, Nicolo Barella sent a cross into the penalty area from the right wing, and Bonny headed it towards the left corner – the goalkeeper made another difficult save this time. However, Inter still opened the scoring in the 31st minute: Federico Dimarco played a wall pass with Mkhitaryan and scored an accurate shot to the far post with one touch inside the penalty area – 1:0.
In the second half, Inter controlled the game and increased their lead in the 70th minute. Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty kick into the right corner, while the goalkeeper jumped to the other side – 2:0.
The visitors tried to respond with set pieces: Aaron Caricol sent a free kick into the center, and Mikael-Egil Ellertsson's header went just wide of the post. In the end, Inter’s defense played calmly – in one episode near the goal, Manuel Akanji almost turned the ball into his own net, but the goalkeeper chose the right position and saved it.
With this victory, Inter leads second-placed Milan by 13 points in the tournament table. Genoa remains around 14th place.
