The World U18 Hockey Championship, held in Hong Kong from March 2-8, became a real celebration for the Uzbekistan national team. Our guys achieved an ideal result in the competition, winning 5 matches and securing a spot in the higher division - the IIB group.
In the decisive, fiercest clash, our national team defeated Israel with a score of 6:3, formalized the championship, and won the gold medal. The tempo, character, and the fight to the end - these are the main strengths of our team in this tournament.
Today, the winners returned to their homeland. A solemn welcoming ceremony for our victorious hockey players took place at the Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport. Representatives of the Ministry of Sports and the country's hockey federation, parents of athletes, and the general public took part in it. The winners were congratulated, supported, and wished good luck in the upcoming competitions.
In short, this victory is not just the result of one tournament. This is a big step for Uzbek hockey, which has reached the next stage, giving confidence and spirit. And now new trials await in the new division - and we are confident that this team is ready for them too.
