Michel Platini strongly criticized VAR system

Former UEFA president and French football legend Michel Platini expressed his critical views on the use of the VAR system in modern football. He stated that the video review system is ruining the natural spirit of the game and complicating the refereeing process.
In an interview with the "After Foot" program, Platini emphasized that the VAR system should only be used in situations difficult for the human eye to detect, particularly offsides and line episodes. In his opinion, technology should not change the fundamental rules of football.
The former player, who did not hide his fatigue with VAR intervention, especially in handball situations, noted that frequent changes in these rules negatively affect the quality of the game. According to him, handball can be accidental or intentional, but because of VAR, referees are forced to analyze every situation too deeply.
Recall that the VAR system was officially adopted internationally in 2018. Since then, this system has been a subject of controversy in the football world. Many experts and fans, like Platini, complain that technology is slowing down the dynamics of the game.
