Our U-18 team qualified for the World Water Polo Championship

Uzbekistan’s U-18 women’s water polo team claimed the bronze medal at the Asian Championship in Malaysia, delivering one of the country’s most notable recent results in youth aquatic sports. Competing against some of the continent’s strongest junior sides, the Uzbek squad produced a confident campaign and finished on the podium with a decisive final-round performance.
The team’s most eye-catching result came in its match against Singapore, where Uzbekistan showed clear superiority from start to finish. The players attacked with pace, created chances consistently and converted them with authority, scoring a stream of goals in a commanding 20-4 victory. That emphatic win proved crucial in confirming third place overall and securing bronze medals for the Uzbek side.
Beyond the medal itself, the result carries added importance for the future of the team. By finishing among the top sides at the continental event, Uzbekistan’s U-18 girls also earned the right to compete at the World Championship in the same age category, which is scheduled to take place in Spain this August. The qualification gives the young athletes a valuable opportunity to test themselves on the global stage and gain experience against elite international opponents.
Sports observers say the achievement reflects the steady development of water polo in Uzbekistan, particularly in the women’s and youth sectors. Reaching the podium at an Asian-level competition suggests that the country’s training system is producing players capable of challenging for medals beyond the national scene. For a young team, such success can also become an important source of confidence ahead of even tougher competitions.
The bronze-medal finish has been welcomed as both a reward for the players’ hard work and a promising sign for the future of Uzbek water polo. With a place now secured at the upcoming world tournament in Spain, the team will have the chance to build on this result and represent the country in one of the biggest events in junior water polo. Information about the achievement was reported through official sources of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
