Current President Joan Laporta secured a convincing victory in the election for the leadership of Barcelona, a renowned Catalan football club. According to the election results, he received 66.6% of the total votes, significantly surpassing his rival, businessman and candidate for the club's board, Victor Font. This was reported by TV3, one of the largest television channels in Catalonia.
According to reports, the popular sports publication Mundo Deportivo conducted a separate survey among 400 club members. It turned out that a large part of the participants expressed confidence in the current leader. Specifically, 235 participants, or 58.75% of respondents, expressed their support for Joan Laporta.
Another part of the respondents said that they voted for the competing candidate Viktor Font. He was trusted by 114 participants - a total of 28.5 percent.
At the same time, some participants chose a neutral position. Of the total number of ballots, 7.25 percent, that is, 29 were empty. Another 5.5% of participants - 22 people - did not want to openly express their views.
These results indicate that Joan Laporta's influence in the club's management is still high. If the final results are confirmed in the same way, he will be the president of Barcelona for the third time. It is reported that its new term is expected to last until 2031.
The club's fans hope that the team will achieve great success under the new presidency, and that the transfer policy and sports strategy will be further strengthened. For the Catalan giants, this decision could determine the team's development direction in the coming years.
