The Uzbekistan national team is holding a training camp for the next international competition. Before today's training sessions, team member Sherzodbek Temirov answered journalists' questions openly and sincerely.
Temirov said about being called up to the training camp for the first time after Katanets under Fabio Cannavaro: "Thank God, after a long time, I had the opportunity to play for the national team again. God willing, we will try to show our best qualities before the World Cup."
When asked about his results in the Iraqi championship, he commented: "The 2nd round has begun, we have another 12-13 rounds ahead. Competition is high there, and many players are following us in the top scorer table. It's difficult to say anything definite before the season ends."
Speaking about Opta ratings and the level of the Iraqi League, he said: "Journalists evaluate the Iraqi League even better than we do. And giving a true assessment is not for us," Temirov said.
Regarding his performance in the Hong Kong Championship and the call-up from the national team, he commented: "Some people consider the Hong Kong league to be at a low level. But there are also many Argentinian, Brazilian, and other foreign players there. I cannot change the coach's decision. I will try to fulfill my duties and help the national team as much as I can."
Regarding potential offers from Super League clubs this summer: "We have a number of offers ahead of us. I haven't spoken to my manager yet, he is currently in the Netherlands. We'll talk when we get back," the footballer replied.
For information, the 27-year-old forward plays for the Iraqi club "Erbil." He is the top scorer this season with 20 goals in 14 appearances, surpassing his closest rival by 7 goals.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan will play against Gabon on March 27 and Venezuela on March 30 as part of the FIFA Series international friendly tournament.
