Barcelona and head coach Hansi Flick have reached a verbal agreement to extend their contract until 2028, according to Mundo Deportivo.
According to sources, the club intends to further extend cooperation with the coach and plans to include an additional one-year option for the 2028/29 season. This clause could be automatically activated if specific sporting goals are achieved.
Under the current agreement, the German specialist is set to remain at the club until 2027. However, Flick is not in a hurry to sign the new contract yet.
He prefers to wait until the end of the season, as Barcelona is currently in the heat of the La Liga title race, leading their nearest rival by 9 points.
Flick's position is that he does not want the decision to be rushed. The coach believes it is important for the club management to have full confidence in any extension decision.
Thus, one of the most important issues regarding Barcelona's future remains frozen until the end of the season.
