Uzbekistan leads, record medals collected in karate

The prestigious "Uzbekistan Open" international WKF karate tournament was organized at a high level at the "Olympic City" in the capital. The competition, which featured a prize fund of 10,400 US dollars, brought together representatives from several countries.
A total of 450 athletes from Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Tajikistan participated in the matches. The contests, held across various age categories, were marked by intense competition and high levels of skill.
Representatives of the host team once again demonstrated their dominance. Our athletes secured 34 gold, 40 silver, and 54 bronze medals, ensuring absolute leadership in the overall team standings.
This tournament held strategic importance beyond the fight for medals. For the national team coaches, the competition served as an important "selection ground" for forming the main and reserve squads ahead of the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Summer Asian Games.
In short, the result is significant—it is a signal: Uzbekistan's karate is in peak form ahead of the major starts.
