Liana Tanjarikova, the mother of Kazakhstani chess player Bibisara Asaubayeva, has revealed why entrepreneur Timur Turlov refused to finance the athlete's project. According to Tanjarikova, she initiated the move for Turlov to be appointed as the federation president three years ago, after which negotiations on cooperation began. Offside.kz reports on this.
The entrepreneur requested a written proposal from the chess player and her team, including a clear business plan and expected results. Asaubayeva's team developed a four-year project outlining all financial obligations and risks.
Additionally, the team promised to bring the chess crown to the country and stated they were prepared to return all funds if they failed to do so.
Liana Tanjarikova noted that Turlov studied the proposal for a long time and met with Bibisara in person in London. During the meeting, the entrepreneur refused to finance the project, stating that all the money belonged to the company and that he was not a billionaire.
For reference, Bibisara Asaubayeva is a three-time world blitz champion and currently holds the seventh position in the FIDE rankings. According to Forbes, Timur Turlov ranks second among the wealthiest people in Kazakhstan with a fortune of 6.3 billion dollars.
