Following the 0:0 draw between AGMK and Neftchi in the 11th round of the Super League, AGMK head coach Mirjalol Qosimov attended the post-match press conference to share his thoughts on the game. The experienced specialist noted that the match was as intense and uncompromising as expected.
— It was the game we expected. We faced the reigning champion — a team with strong and skilled players. They try to play open football, and we like that style as well. Today's match was full of battles and was interesting. I think the fans were also satisfied. We had opportunities to score, and if we had taken advantage of them, the result could have been different. However, there was also a risk of losing at the end of the game. That is the beauty of football, — said Qosimov.
The specialist explained that his team held the advantage in the first half, but faced difficulties in maintaining the pace of the game in the second half.
— When enthusiasm is high, mistakes are sometimes made in decision-making. We needed to keep the opponent without the ball and launch quick attacks. We had several good opportunities, but we could not use them effectively. In some situations, failing to make simple decisions created difficulties for us, — he added.
Qosimov also answered a question regarding the declining efficiency of strikers in the championship. In his opinion, the increased competition in the league is making every match more difficult.
— The championship is going very hard. Regardless of which team you play against, everyone is putting up strong resistance. Here, not only skill but also mental preparation is important. Players need to work more on themselves and prepare themselves psychologically, — said the coach.
He also acknowledged that it would be beneficial to have specialized coaches for each line in the team, but emphasized that this issue depends on financial capabilities.
During the press conference, Qosimov also touched upon the team's results in a tight schedule. He left it to the fans and experts to evaluate the results recorded in April.
At the end of the conference, he expressed his deep condolences on the passing of Neftchi club legend Abdusamad Doʻrmonov.
— We were deeply saddened to hear this news. He was a very sincere and open-hearted person. We played together at Pakhtakor and in the national team. May God have mercy on him and grant him a place in paradise. We wish patience to his loved ones, — said Qosimov.
In short, while the AGMK coach expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, he acknowledged the need to work on missed opportunities and certain mistakes.
