Uzbek judokas secure impressive victories in Istanbul
Uzbekistani judo athletes achieved remarkable victories at the prestigious "Istanbul Junior European Cup 2026" held in Istanbul, Turkey, which concluded recently. Over 500 young judokas from 27 countries participated in this competitive event. Fazliddin Rafikov dominated the +100 kg category, defeating all his opponents and securing a gold medal, while teammates Arabbay Daurbaev (-60 kg) and Sabina Azamatova (-52 kg) earned silver medals, and Khushnud Sultonov (-60 kg) took home a bronze. Overall, Uzbekistan's youth team finished fourth among 27 nations, showcasing their growing strength in the international judo arena.

On the second day of the tournament, winners were determined in the middle and heavyweight categories. Representing Uzbekistan, Fazliddin Rafikov secured the top spot on the podium in the +100 kg weight class after decisively defeating all his opponents. Throughout the tournament, he triumphed over representatives from Russia, the Netherlands, Japan, and Azerbaijan, rightfully earning the gold medal.
