Simeone acknowledges Arsenal but praises his team

Atlético Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone, exited the competition after a dramatic clash against Arsenal. Although the match ended in a 1-1 draw, the defeat in the first leg put an end to the Madrid side's dreams of advancing. After the game, head coach Diego Simeone shared his emotional thoughts.

The Argentine specialist first praised his players' efforts and emphasized that the team had gone further than expected this season. In his view, Atlético Madrid gave everything on the pitch, but luck was on the opponent's side during the decisive moments.

— "We had a very good campaign. The players gave their all and fought until the end. To be honest, we went further than many expected. Unfortunately, that is football — sometimes even hard work does not yield the desired result," said Simeone.

The coach recalled that his team had created enough dangerous situations in the first leg as well, but they could not capitalize on them effectively. He noted that in the second leg, especially in the second half, the Madrid side took the initiative.

— "We had chances to score in the first game too, but we lacked composure in the end. Today, in the second half, we played more in the opponent's half, applied pressure, and created chances. But in football, small details sometimes play a decisive role. Sometimes luck is on your side, and sometimes it is the opposite," the experienced coach remarked.

Simeone also touched upon the refereeing but stated he did not want to look for excuses. He congratulated the opposing team in a respectful manner.

— "I have nothing extra to say about the refereeing. We are out of the competition and we must accept it. I congratulate Arsenal — they showed once again that they are a good team," he said.

At the same time, Simeone highly valued Arsenal's current project and style of play. He particularly highlighted the team's consistent development.

— "I like their team and their coach. They have a clear system and a consistent approach. This is supported by great financial resources. It is not easy to compete in such a situation. But we will not stop; we will continue working," said Simeone.

Despite this defeat, Atlético Madrid fans appreciate the team's fighting spirit. Under Simeone's leadership, the Madrid side once again demonstrated character and resilience, showing that they never give up until the end.
