Guardiola jokingly explains Doku's growth

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola shared warm thoughts on winger Jeremy Doku's performance this season. The Spanish tactician did not hide his satisfaction with the Belgian's recent development and, as usual, joked about it.

Guardiola noted that when a player performs well, many credit the manager's work, but when they struggle, the blame falls on the player himself.

"It's always the manager's credit," he said with a laugh. "If players play well, it's because of the manager, but if they play poorly, it's their own fault!"

This was, of course, Guardiola's typical humor. But there is a deeper meaning behind it, as Doku has been significantly more active, bold, and effective in the Manchester City attack this season. He stands out not just for his speed or dribbling, but for his ability to influence the game.

Guardiola expressed his happiness with Doku reaching a new level. In his view, a modern winger should not be limited to beating opponents in one-on-one situations; such a player must bring goals, assists, attacking intensity, and results to the team.

This aspect is becoming increasingly visible in Doku's game. He puts pressure on opposing defenders on the flank, brings energy to attacks with his pace, and creates opportunities for his teammates when needed. In other words, Doku is evolving from a player of "fancy tricks" into a player who can influence the outcome.

"Jeremy is playing exceptionally well this season," said Guardiola.

The 23-year-old Belgian has made 26 appearances in the current Premier League season, recording 4 goals and 5 assists. These numbers demonstrate his attacking activity and value to the team.

Finding one's place in a high-demand club like Manchester City is not easy. Especially in Guardiola's system, every player is required to show not only individual skill but also tactical intelligence, decision-making, and adaptation to team play. Doku is going through this process and proving himself as a more mature player.

Fans now expect even more consistent and impactful performances from the Belgian winger. He has the speed, the technique, and most importantly, the desire to grow. And Guardiola knows exactly how to unlock such players.
