Elye Wahi compares himself to Lionel Messi: Sharp criticism of Eintracht Frankfurt

Elye Wahi has expressed sharp criticism regarding his time at his former club Eintracht Frankfurt. In an interview with the French newspaper L'Equipe, the 23-year-old striker spoke about his difficult period in Germany and the attitude of the club's management. According to him, he was not given enough support or opportunities to prove himself at the club. This is reported by Goal.com .
"In Germany, I entered a completely new world without knowing the language. In one year, I only started four times. Even if your name is Lionel Messi, you need time to showcase your abilities," Wahi said. He also expressed dissatisfaction with head coach Dino Toppmöller, emphasizing that he was not given enough trust.
Wahi joined Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for 26 million euros. However, over 12 months, he only made 25 appearances and managed to score just one goal. As a result, the club loaned him to OGC Nice during the winter transfer window.
Currently trying to prove himself at the French club, the player has scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 16 matches. Although the loan is until the end of the season, Wahi does not want to return to Eintracht Frankfurt. The club management is ready to sell the player for offers starting from 20 million euros.
