Milan abandons Niclas Füllkrug signing: new suitors emerge for the striker

The German striker Niclas Füllkrug is looking for a new team after a disappointing spell in his career. AC Milan has decided not to exercise the option to buy the player from West Ham United after he failed to impress during his loan spell at the San Siro. According to Sky Sports, Milan does not intend to trigger the €5 million buyout clause. This is reported by Goal.com reports.
The 33-year-old striker's time in Italy did not go as expected. Although Füllkrug appeared in 20 matches across all competitions, he only started 3 of them. In a total of 647 minutes, he managed to score only one goal. Consequently, the Serie A giant is exploring other options to strengthen its attacking line.
West Ham United is also not interested in keeping the experienced player. Due to the club's relegation from the Premier League, they are facing financial difficulties and want to offload Füllkrug's high salary. It is worth noting that the London club paid Borussia Dortmund €27 million for this transfer in 2024, but he missed over 30 games due to injuries.
Currently, MLS clubs, as well as representatives from La Liga and Serie A, are showing interest in the striker. His former club, Werder Bremen, is also exploring the possibility of bringing him back. For this to happen, Füllkrug would need to significantly reduce his high salary demands.
