OpenAI launches o3-mini: advanced AI for all!

OpenAI has launched the new "reasoning" model o3-mini, now available to all ChatGPT users.

The o3-mini model offers improved efficiency compared to previous versions. OpenAI highlighted its ability to solve logical problems and provide detailed answers.

This powerful and fast model, introduced in December 2024, expands the capabilities of smaller AI models, particularly excelling in STEM fields – science, mathematics, and programming. Despite its advanced reasoning skills, it maintains low latency and affordability compared to o1-mini.

Now, the AI can interact with search engines and provide links to relevant web sources. This feature is still in beta as OpenAI continues integrating ChatGPT Search into its reasoning models. Additionally, three reasoning modes (low, medium, high) have been added, allowing users to choose between faster responses and in-depth analysis.

The model is available via API and in ChatGPT. Even free users can access it, though they have stricter message limits. OpenAI emphasized that this is the first time a reasoning model has been made available to everyone. This move may be a response to the success of China’s DeepSeek AI.
