WhatsApp to launch in-app ads

WhatsApp will begin showing ads within the app, Rozetked.me reports.
The company had promised in 2014 that the messenger would never feature ads. However, in the coming months, ads will appear in the “Status” section, visible under the “Updates” tab and separated from regular chats.

Additionally, businesses will be able to pay for promoting their channels, while creators can charge followers for access to exclusive content.

WhatsApp emphasized that regular messaging users will not experience any changes, as all new features will be confined to the “Updates” tab, which can be disabled in settings.
