Google has announced plans to enhance Android security by prohibiting the installation of apps from unverified developers. This new measure was announced on the company’s official website.
The new developer verification system will be launched as a pilot in October 2025. Full implementation of the platform will occur in the spring of 2026.
The measure will affect developers distributing apps through third-party app stores or those that can be manually installed. The restrictions will begin in September 2026 in Brazil, Indonesia, and Singapore.
By 2027, Google plans to implement this feature in additional countries.
