Lenovo and Motorola unveil new AI assistant Qira

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Lenovo and Motorola announced a new artificial intelligence platform called Qira. The company presents it as a cross-platform digital assistant that connects PCs, tablets, and smartphones into a single ecosystem, and says it will compete with Microsoft and Google solutions. playground.ru reports reports .

Qira works as an “ambient” AI—meaning it runs without launching a separate app and is deeply embedded into the operating system. It stays always on and analyzes what’s happening on the screen: the Next Move feature tries to anticipate user needs—for example, if it sees a photo of food, it suggests finding a recipe. Catch Me Up is designed to provide a short summary of missed notifications and events.

On security, Lenovo chose a hybrid architecture with a primary focus on on-device computing. According to company representatives, Qira processes most data locally, builds a “living model” of user habits, and does not send personal data to the cloud without explicit permission. The assistant can also handle tasks such as writing emails, transcribing meetings, and managing files across connected gadgets.

Motorola also showcased a conceptual wearable device called Project Maxwell: a camera-equipped smart badge that “interacts” with the environment through Qira’s capabilities. It can execute voice commands without a smartphone, such as calling a taxi or sending a message. Qira is expected to arrive on Lenovo PCs as early as Q1 2026, with integration into Motorola phones coming later.
