The UK video game market gained significant momentum in 2025: British consumers spent a total of £5.4 billion on games. This is 7.4% more than a year earlier, the ERA association reported, citing data from NielsenIQ/GfK Entertainment, Omdia, and GSD/IFSE. According to the association, this is the biggest increase since 2020—when the market grew by 27.9% compared with 2019. This was reported by playground.ru reports .

The main growth driver was the mobile segment: its revenue rose by 8.8% to £1.88 billion. It also reinforced the positive 5.5% trend seen in 2023–2024. In 2025, mobile devices accounted for 35.5% of total UK video game revenue.

Digital console sales also grew rapidly, up 11.5% to £857.6 million. Physical copy sales fell by 1% to £318.8 million—just 5% of the overall market. Overall, digital sales generated £5 billion in revenue, showing 8% year-on-year growth.

The year’s best-selling game was EA Sports FC 26: more than 1.97 million copies were sold across digital and physical formats.

ERA notes that video games remain one of the few entertainment categories where consumers still place a high value on “ownership.” Purchases of games account for 45% of market revenue; in music this share is 16.6%, and in video it is 7.2%.
