34 percent of the population in Crimea is using unlicensed satellite equipment

The widespread use of unlicensed satellite receiver devices, known as "Gorynych," has been reported in Crimea. According to expert estimates, approximately 34 percent of the region's population uses such equipment. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar beradi.
According to a report by the research company "Grifon Expert," these devices are capable of receiving signals from multiple satellites simultaneously, including broadcasts from Ukrainian television channels. The lack of strict usage restrictions and the limited availability of official alternatives are cited as reasons for their popularity.
Legal satellite television services cover only 17 percent of the population. Nearly half of the population does not use satellite television at all.
The majority of users of unlicensed equipment are citizens between the ages of 18 and 54.
Following a discussion of the situation, the Ministry of Digital Development has been tasked with assessing the actual scale of the use of such devices and developing appropriate measures.
