Aeroflot updates rules for transporting portable power banks

Aeroflot has introduced changes to the rules for transporting portable power banks and spare lithium batteries on board its aircraft. As reported on the company's official Telegram channel, the new procedure is aimed at strengthening safety measures. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

Power banks are now only permitted in carry-on baggage. Their use during taxiing, takeoff, or landing is strictly prohibited. Devices must be stored under the seat in front or in its pocket, not in overhead bins. Each passenger is limited to two devices.

Specific restrictions have also been introduced for spare lithium batteries. Batteries with a capacity of up to 100 Wh can be carried without authorization, while those between 100 and 160 Wh require airline approval. Batteries exceeding 160 Wh are prohibited on passenger aircraft.

These new rules were developed in accordance with safety requirements adopted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2026.
