Another cyberattack on the Instructure platform: hackers escalate their demands

EdTech giant Instructure has become the target of another cyberattack following a recent data breach. A hacker group claims to have compromised the login pages of several schools using the Canvas platform, posting their own threatening messages. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

The cybercriminal group known as ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility for this attack. They are demanding a ransom from the company, threatening to release stolen personal data on May 12th if their demands are not met. Currently, the Canvas portal has been temporarily taken offline for maintenance.

Experts believe the hackers are attempting to increase pressure on Instructure through these actions. The initial attack allegedly compromised data belonging to approximately 9,000 schools and 231 million individuals worldwide. There is currently no definitive information on how the hackers gained access to the system.

Instructure representatives have not yet provided an official comment on the situation. The ShinyHunters group asserts that this is a second, separate cyberattack. Company users and educational institutions are being urged to strengthen their security measures.
