PD-8 aircraft engine successfully passes all tests

Russia's United Engine Corporation (part of Rostec) has announced the completion of certification tests for the PD-8 aircraft engine, designed for SJ-100 aircraft. The process of obtaining the type certificate required for full operation of the engine on SJ-100 aircraft will now begin. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

During the tests, the PD-8 engine operated for over 6,500 hours. Inspections were conducted both on test benches and directly within the SJ-100 aircraft. The engine was also tested in extreme weather conditions in the Arkhangelsk region, specifically under icing conditions.

The engine successfully passed rigorous tests, including bird strikes, water and hail ingestion, as well as fan blade damage simulations. Additionally, 150-hour endurance tests were conducted to verify the engine's durability.

The development of the PD-8 involved 25 critical technologies, 17 of which are completely new to the industry. Specialists from ODK-Saturn disassembled the engine after extreme stress tests to analyze the condition of every component, and the results served as the basis for certification.
