Apple has announced an unexpected price drop for its iPhone 17 series smartphones in the Chinese market. Starting May 15, iPhone 17 Pro models have become 1,000 yuan cheaper, and with trade-in programs and additional subsidies, the total discount has reached 2,000 yuan (approximately $300). As a result of these changes, the minimum price for the iPhone 17 Pro model has dropped to 6,999 yuan. This marks the first time in Apple's history that this model has fallen below the 7,000 yuan psychological threshold. The new prices are already reflected in the official Apple store on the JD.com platform.
Additionally, the base iPhone 17 model has received a significant discount for the first time, making it available for purchase at 4,499 yuan through various promotions. Authorized dealers note that customers traditionally expected this price drop in May.
On the other hand, due to rising costs of memory and components, the prices of many Android flagships have instead increased by 200–600 yuan. Analysts predict that this aggressive move by Apple will significantly boost sales performance in the Chinese market.
