China's Jiuzhang 4.0 quantum computer sets a record

Scientists at the University of Science and Technology of China have unveiled the new generation Jiuzhang 4.0 photonic quantum computer. According to the South China Morning Post, this system is capable of performing complex computational tasks faster than existing supercomputers. This is reported by Ixbt.com reported by.
The new device completed the Gaussian boson sampling task in just 25 microseconds. For comparison, El Capitan, one of the world's most powerful supercomputers, would have taken billions of years to perform this calculation.
The Jiuzhang 4.0 system is capable of manipulating quantum states of up to 3,050 photons. This figure is ten times higher than previous experiments. Additionally, the photon source efficiency of the system is 92 percent, and the overall platform efficiency is 51 percent.
Experts note that Jiuzhang 4.0 is not a universal computer, but a device designed for specific, narrow-range tasks. Chinese scientists consider photonic technologies to be the most promising direction in the field of quantum computing.
