Shanghai Telecom introduces token-based tariff for artificial intelligence services

Shanghai Telecom has become the first in Shanghai to launch a new token-based tariff system for AI computing power. This innovation allows users to access AI resources using a convenient model similar to mobile or internet services. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
The new system offers two payment methods: pay-as-you-go (250,000 tokens for 1 yuan) or purchasing large volume packages at discounted rates. Payments are integrated into the standard mobile account, significantly simplifying the process for both regular users and developers.
After purchasing the service, users gain access to over 30 leading AI models, including text and multimodal solutions, via standard APIs. These capabilities can be easily integrated into various applications, scripts, and automated workflows.
For example, with 2.5 million tokens purchased for 10 yuan, a program can automatically generate summaries for approximately 100 e-books. With this move, Shanghai Telecom, a branch of China Telecom, is strengthening its leadership in the regional digital solutions market.
