Germany and Spain Oppose EU Ban on Huawei

Amid plans by the European Union (EU) to ban Chinese technologies in 5G networks, countries like Germany and Spain are supporting Huawei in the development of telecommunications solutions. Officials from these countries are concerned that restricting the use of Huawei products could trigger retaliatory measures at the EU level. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

At the same time, experts note that such a ban would lead to an increase in the cost of artificial intelligence infrastructure, as Chinese technologies are considered much more cost-effective. If the ban comes into effect, it would take mobile operators in Germany and Spain more than three years and between 3.4 billion and 4.3 billion euros to phase out Chinese technology.

During her visit to Beijing, German Economy Minister Katerina Reiche addressed this topic, stating that the EU must ensure that measures taken in trade relations with China do not harm the bloc's export potential. According to her, as an exporting nation, Germany is interested in maintaining the export opportunities of its companies while fighting against unfair competition.

Huawei, for its part, emphasizes that the proposal to gradually phase out Chinese network technology suppliers from infrastructure contradicts the principles of fairness and law in the European Union. Company representatives have stated that such decisions would negatively impact market competition.
