Samsung is actively rolling out the major One UI 8.5 update based on the Android 16 operating system. As of May 28, 2026, a stable firmware version has been released for the budget-friendly Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A26 models in the global market. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
According to insider Tarun Vats, users have already started downloading the update. The file size ranges from approximately 2.3 to 2.9 GB depending on the model and includes the May security patch. The relevant software builds have been officially released for Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A26 devices in India.
Also, on the same day, Galaxy A17 smartphones in India and Malaysia received the update. The list of countries where this firmware is being distributed is gradually expanding. The One UI 8.5 interface offers users improved personalization, new Galaxy AI features, and system stability.
Samsung is expanding its list of supported devices: One UI 8.5 is currently available on dozens of models, from the flagship S25 and S24 series to budget A-series phones and tablets. The update is expected to be rolled out globally to other regions in the coming weeks.
