First serial MS-21-310 aircraft unveiled

The first serial MS-21-310 aircraft, developed as a Russian alternative to Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 liners, has been moved from the final assembly shop of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant to the flight test unit. This step allows for accelerating the verification of aircraft systems and starting the complex of tests intended for serial machines ahead of schedule. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports.

Andrey Soynov, General Director of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, noted that the enterprise is consistently increasing the production rate of import-substituting MS-21-310 aircraft based on the approved schedule. Moving the first serial aircraft to the test site frees up space in the final assembly shop for the next machine. The plant plans to reach a production level of 36 aircraft per year in the future.

MS-21-310 is a new generation medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Yakovlev PJSC. It is designed to replace outdated Tu-154 and Tu-204 models, as well as foreign Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 liners. The liner can accommodate up to 211 passengers and has a flight range of 3830 km with 175 passengers.

The main feature of this aircraft is the high proportion of composite materials in its construction (approximately 40%). The most important difference of the 310 version from previous prototypes is that it is equipped with PD-14 engines, the first domestic engines created for civil aviation in modern Russia.
