Fake air conditioners sold under the Xiaomi brand: Buyers warned

In the home appliance market, cases of selling low-quality products using the names of famous brands are increasing. Specifically, air conditioners named Xiaomi Baby, which look very similar to the Xiaomi brand but have no connection to it, have appeared in Chinese markets. Although these devices resemble the original product in appearance, they are actually low-quality copies. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
According to the ixbt.com publication, one such case was recorded in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. A local buyer ordered a Xiaomi air conditioner, but noticed that the external unit of the device brought by the installers had the Xiaomi Baby logo. The buyer noted that they had never heard of such a series and were close to being misled, so they returned the product and demanded a refund.
Differences between fake and original products
Experts have determined that the Xiaomi Baby marking is present on both internal and external units. However, these devices have several drawbacks compared to original models. First, the body dimensions of the fake air conditioners are significantly smaller than original Xiaomi models of the same capacity. This indicates lower efficiency and cooling power of the device.Second, the build quality and the level of materials used are very low. The poor quality of plastic parts and the misalignment of components are visible to the naked eye. Most importantly, Xiaomi Baby products lack complete information about the manufacturer, relevant certificates, and warranty documents.
Currently, many online marketplaces are being used by cunning sellers. They highlight the word Xiaomi in the product description while leaving the Baby addition in small letters or in an inconspicuous place. This misleads brand fans and encourages them to buy cheap fake appliances.
It is worth noting that Xiaomi does not officially produce a series with this name. Such cases call for buyers to be vigilant not only in China but also in international markets, including Uzbekistan. Low-quality appliances are dangerous not only because they break down quickly but also because they do not meet electrical safety standards.
Experts recommend paying attention to the following when buying home appliances:
- Compare the full product name and brand logo with those on the official website;
- Check for the presence of certificates and an official warranty card;
- Be wary of suspiciously low prices;
- Purchase only from reliable and official dealer stores.
