The main tasks of state policy in the religious sphere have been determined

The law “On ensuring freedom of conscience of citizens in Uzbekistan and approving the concept of state policy in the religious sphere” was adopted.

According to the concept, the main tasks of state policy in the religious sphere in Uzbekistan are the following, including:

• to ensure the freedom and equality before the law of citizens, regardless of gender, race, nationality, language, religion, belief, social origin, social status, and to take measures to prevent the infringement of their constitutional rights and freedoms;
  
• to strengthen the unity and solidarity of the multinational and multi-confessional people of Uzbekistan, the spirit of respect for their traditions, and to create equal conditions for their development;
  
• to create equal legal conditions for citizens to actively participate in public life;
  
• create conditions for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to freedom of conscience, regardless of their attitude to religion, without allowing forced indoctrination of religious views;
  
• the state to rely on secularism in accordance with constitutional norms in implementing its domestic and foreign policy;
  
• implement consistent measures to strengthen the active civic position of citizens in establishing religious tolerance and legality in society.
