In recent years, the education sector in Uzbekistan has been developing and gaining international recognition. An important indicator is the increasing number of foreign students wishing to study at higher educational institutions in our country.
According to the National Statistics Committee, at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the number of foreign students studying at universities and institutes in Uzbekistan reached 12,500.
It is noted that the largest number of foreign students is from India, with 6,502 students from this country. This is more than half of the total number of foreign students.
The high quality of education, the convenience of the admission process, and good diplomatic and cultural relations between the two countries are cited as reasons for Indian youth choosing Uzbekistan.
At the same time, neighboring countries are also interested in the education system of Uzbekistan. For example, 1,430 students from Turkmenistan are studying at universities in our country, while 1,250 young people from Pakistan are studying at higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
The number of students from Russia is also significant, and today 732 Russian students are studying in Uzbekistan. The number of students from Kazakhstan has reached 639.
According to the data provided by the committee, the breakdown of countries by the number of foreign students is as follows:
- India – 6502
- Turkmenistan – 1430
- Pakistan – 1250
- Russia – 732
- Kazakhstan – 639
- Kyrgyzstan – 369
- China – 325
- Tajikistan – 322
- Korea – 197
- Afghanistan – 157
- Canada – 126
- Other countries – 431
These figures show that reforms in the field of education in Uzbekistan are further increasing the attractiveness of our country for foreign youth. In this regard, the high quality of education in our country and the adaptation of educational processes to international standards are of great importance.
Experts note that this trend is expected to continue in the coming years and the number of foreign students in Uzbekistan is expected to increase further. This, in turn, will help our country's higher education institutions rise in international rankings and further increase their global prestige. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
